Franchise opportunities benefit from the fact that staying active and fit is a priority for many people. This is a positive trend that most people can get on board with because, in our world, more than two-thirds of people struggle with obesity or weight issues. This is positive for consumers and also great news for fitness enthusiasts interested in starting their fitness franchises.

The fitness industry growth rate is about 8.7% globally, and experts project that the growth continues, reaching about $99.9 billion by the end of 2019, and $106 billion by 2020.

Let’s break down a few fitness franchise options, and what makes each of them attractive for business owners.

5. Anytime Fitness

Anytime Fitness is one of the most recognizable franchise names in the industry. Offering more than 2,300 United States locations in 2019 (up from 455 in 2007), Anytime Fitness is approachable and user-friendly.

The main benefit of franchisees is that the start-up cost is somewhat low. The initial investment ranges from about $107.5 to $722.8K, although their proprietary “Express” model comes with a much higher price tag (up to a half-million dollars, potentially).

For clients, Anytime Fitness’s main benefit is that the facilities are open 24/7. This round-the-clock access makes working out easy for time-strapped clients.

4. Burn Boot Camp

Burn Boot Camp is a lesser-known name than Anytime Fitness but remains a popular choice. Established back in 2012, Burn Boot Camp started its franchise operation just three years later in 2015.

The business model behind Burn Boot Camp caters specifically to women who want to stay fit and healthy. Clients burn at least 700 calories within the timeframe of the 45-minute program.

Burn Boot Camp has more than 100 units throughout the U.S. Start-up costs generally range from $142K to $349K, with a 6% royalty fee and a 2% marketing fee.

3. GymGuyz

GymGuyz is another popular fitness franchise opportunity that has developed a big buzz from a relatively small footprint. With only 125 existing locations, GymGuyz stands perched on the edge of a significant expansion opportunity.

The main selling point of this franchise? The offerings cater to corporate, group sessions, and personal training. Classes include post-natal fitness, senior fitness, weight training, and more.

Start-up costs for a GymGuyz franchise range from about $56K to $122K and initial contracts run for a ten-year term. The franchise charges a 6% franchise fee and a 2% marketing fee.

2. Orangetheory Fitness

Orangetheory Fitness is a boutique franchise opportunity line. Their focus is on fitness classes. The franchise has more than 511 units throughout the U.S., each includes a mixture of equipment like rowing machines, treadmills, and free weights.

Established as a franchise model in 2010, Orangetheory Fitness’s major selling point is that it offers heart rate-monitor training. These classes advertise the ability to increase energy use and burn calories faster. The franchise also promotes scalable workouts and science-backed approaches.

Franchise owners interested in establishing an Orangetheory Fitness spend between $488 to $944K in start-up costs. You can also expect to pay an 8% royalty fee and enjoy initial agreement terms for ten years.
